Buddy read recs

I'm wanting to do several buddy reads with my bf this summer.
TLDR: F and NF recs for buddy reading that evoke deep discussions.

I love fiction, especially when it's very poetic and carries deeper life meaning, romance, mystery, and have been dabbling in eco fiction and thriller.
He's more into non fiction and loves topics such as history, philosophy, astronomy, biology, and human dynamics. We both enjoy reading about social concepts and figuring out where we both stand in regards to the morals or opinions of the topic.
We've read a non fiction book together and it was so much fun, we are long-distance at the moment so we would read together on ft or read on the same Kindle account highlighting and leaving notes and then discussing together after.

I would love both F and NF recommendations for books that evoke a lot of discussion and that can be deep-dived into. Bonus points for pretty prose that I can highlight 🤭
