Fiction about a characters journey in life

Hi. I really really enjoy books about, what I usually describe as, the “odyssey” of someone’s life. I just finished Daughters of Shandong and loved following as characters navigate life and its ups and downs. Other books like A Fine Balance, Demon Copperhead, Prince of Tides, are also some of my major favorites. Do you have any recommendations for similar reads? I don’t know if there is even a term to describe this type of book—but all I know is these are the ones I can’t put down. Can be historical fiction or modern day, it doesn’t matter. I just love a story with a central character or characters who you follow as they journey through life. Thank you!!
