looking for book about toxic mother/child relationship

hello! i recently finished reading a psychological horror manga called "blood on the tracks" and it has tormented me for days. i am curious to know if there are any similar books to it. the story is about a toxic mother/son relationship. the mother is overprotective to the extreme (she pushes her nephew off a cliff in attempt to "protect" her son) and the son struggles to reconcile the image of the ideal mother he thought he knew with the person who would do such a thing. without spoiling anything i think what really compelled me about the story was despite how awful and abusive she was you couldnt help but sympathize with her at the end. that's kind of the vibe i'm looking for if that makes sense? toxic mother/child relationship and also not whump and ideally a hopeful ending (if bittersweet).
