Not gonna lie — I’ve always struggled with reading. I start a book, get 10 pages in… and boom, my brain hits snooze.
What’s that one book so addictive, so readable, that even a lifelong non-reader like me could not just start it… but actually FINISH it?
Something that hooks me fast, doesn’t drag, and feels like a movie playing in my head.
Help me end my bookless streak.

What kind of movies TV shows games hobbies, etc. do you like?
Honestly, the books i found the most addictive when i was a kid was percy jackson. I actually couldn’t put them down. It really comes down to what’s your preferred genre. If you like fantasy, try percy jackson or the neverending story. If you like thrillers, try agatha christie. Hercule poirot my favourite, specifically, murder on the orient express.
Scholomance.
The very first line just grabs you.
“I decided that Orion needed to die after the second time he saved my life.”
Like WTF? Dude saves your life and you want him dead? I gotta know more.
You have to tell us what you like so we know what to suggest
Id start with audiobooks. If you have a library card, You can download the Libby app and get audiobooks for free from your library. This is how I got into consuming books.
Unless you are more dead-set on reading physical books, I’d try to find some novelization of a movie you like, or if you’re into anime, I might start with manga.
For me personally, I read “All Quiet on the Western Front” by Erich Remarque a few months after watching the movie on netflix, and finished it in a couple days. Short read, I did a chapter a day on my days off and was able to finish it.
The Hobbit
Thrillers are usually pretty good for this. Maybe try And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie?
Have you considered starting with a graphic novel? There are some really great ones across a lot of styles and genres, and it could be a halfway step to reading a “novel” novel.
A classic one would be V for Vendetta, or Y the Last Man was a really fun series.
I made the mistake of reviewing your timeline. You got some work to do before your brain can consume literature. It’s not too late.
Another Roadside Attraction was a book I remember reading cover to cover in one night. Tho I prefer Jitterbug Perfume.
Yellow Star.
It’s ok if u wanna snooze after 10 pages! Take a nap and when u wake up get back to the book 🤣
You know u don’t have to read the whole thing in one setting, right? 🤣
Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse
Try short stories and novellas and take it one day at a time
Jurassic Park
