Agatha Christie is great, but keep in mind there are over 80 books by her so some of them are a bit phoned in, And Then There Were None was fantastic and a great place to start.

I love the cozy mysteries by Diane Mott Davidson, they are about a caterer that stumbles into murders and can’t resist solving them also the books have recipes for some of the stuff the character makes so you have a delicious snack while reading.

Off the top of my JD Kirk’s DCI Logan series, Jane Casey’s Maeve Kerrigan series, any of Sharon Bolton’s books, Henry Bingham’s Fiona Griffith series.

Murder in the Family is one of my favourite murder mystery books. So many twists and turns, and all set out like a tv show.
I will always plug the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy books whenever someone asks for Sci-fi.

Start with A Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters. It’s book one of the Amelia Peabody mystery series. The setting is the turn of the century heyday of archeological discovery in Egypt. One of my all time favorite authors and series.
