Today, I'm going to Barnes for a book club. I'm so nervous as it is my first time with a new group of people and I'm socially awkward since COVID ended. I am encouraging myself to go by allowing myself to buy 2-3 books as a little reward. I also have a membership so I get a 20% discount. Here have been some of my favorite authors since I started reading regularly this year (I've read 89 books so far this year). I have exhausted the backlists of most of these authors as well or found them used at my bookstore and they are already on my TBR. I'm looking for similar, but not the same. Would prefer books that are 4-5 stars for you with emotional connections with the characters at the forefront, good plot points, found family, romance or spice is OK but I'm fine without it. Love dystopian and litfic, but open to other suggestions.

You have great taste and a wide array of genre here! I’m going to recommend When Women Were Dragons. It’s mostly magical realism but in a very accessible way.
