Hey guys,
I am looking for recommendations for a scifi book series which focuses on space exploration.
For some reason I pretty much only read fantasy books my whole life, but I really love scifi shows and movies (e.g. Star Trek, The Expanse).
So I thought I would give the genre a try in book form. I know The Expanse is based on a book series, but idk if it is worth it as I have seen the show completely already (maybe its different enough?).
Do you guys know of any book series that have the vibe of star trek? Like exploring the universe as explorers or scientist and stumbling into different situations?
Thanks in advance!

The Forge of God series leads to a space exploration universe. 3 Body Problem isn’t explicitly space exploration so much as it is about a spacefaring society (eventually). In a similar vein, the Foundation series does something similar. I could also see a decent argument for the Enders Game series, it’s very interesting after the first one and is really all about colonizing space. And if space colonizing counts, then you could also read the Children of Time series.
I’m sure someone here will refer The Martian as reddit is obsessed with the book. It’s just about Mars, not all of space, so I don’t think it’s quite what you’re looking for.
Have you read the series Old Man’s War by John Scalzi? I enjoyed this and the Murderbot series while waiting for the last book in Expanse to be released.
