I have an 11 y/o little sister. I want to buy her self-help books that can help guide her on her puberty journey. Last time I talked with her, she was crying because she’s fully aware of the unfairness of life (how small our house is and she wants to have a room) and how my dad would always be in an angry mood at home. She would also always be in a bad mood when talking about her underarm hairs and period.
While these sentiments might sound like rants to some, I consider them her awakening to the realities of life: the challenges and problems that we face.
I want to guide her through it but I already have a family of my own (I’m 33) and could not be with her most of the days.
I want to find books for her age that will help her navigate this stage. I want topics on friendships, knowing what to say, body changes, bullying, navigating the digital world.
She loves reading stories and novels. She has them at home. But, this time, I just want to give her non-fiction books that straight up serves as a guide.
So far, I only found Smart Girl Series books. Would love to hear your recommendations!
