Getting back into reading and this was perfect. Here's what I like about it:
- Little to no exposition. Dives right into the story
- Spooky in a vague and unexplained way, similar to house of leaves, where things are Just Wrong. Not looking for vampires/werewolves/slashers etc, but spooky from sci-fi perspective is also great
- no romance
- written very plainly, no flowery prose or long explanations or soliloquy . (Honestly I'd give the -writing- of the book a 6.5, but I'm not looking to read for the enjoyment of a turn of phrase right now, so that's ok)
That's pretty much it. I can't tell you other books like this I've enjoyed, because it's not what I typically read. It was highly entertaining, finished it in about a 24 hour period, and now there's a weird lil hole where it used to be. Help me fill it.
