Looking for good suggestions for getting into Chinese history

So I'm looking to start learning a little bit of Chinese history, and am specifically looking for suggestions that are informative, accurate, and also not too dry of a read. Since I barely know anything, something that covers ancient through modern China would be cool, but beggars can't be choosers. Thank you in advance!
