    1. Not my favourite books, but I go back to these when I’m in a slump:
      – The Son by Jo Nesbo
      – I am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes
      – Lord of the Rings (first one)
      – whatever book I last I gave a 5*

Depends on what you like to read but here are some suggestions I always make for those who want to get out of a reading slump:
Agatha Christie novels — I started with And Then There Were None
      Project Hail Mary
      The Hunger Games series
Born a Crime by Trevor Noah

I usually go for thrillers. Because they have that sharp pull to them

You could try reading short stories, I’m particularly fond of Roald Dahl’s “Kiss Kiss” collection; the short stories are fun, the writing is captivating and Dahl is amazing at creating absurd situtations that feel real and that end very unexpectedly. Consider giving it a go

    5. The First Law Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie or Dungeon Crawler Carl are both excellent choices to get you out of a slump

      – Project Hail Mary (popular for a reason)
      – Six of Crows
      – Remarkably Bright Creatures

      Corner of bitter and sweet
Anything by Jo Moyes or Lilian Moriarty

Harry Potter is my millennial coded brain’s easy way to get out of a reading slump. But I’ll also revisit other childhood favorites like Ella Enchanted, Holes, or Hatchet. I’ll pick up a favorite from that time in like 5th grade when I couldn’t get enough books in my hands. Helps me remember and reignite my love for reading. So find that time for you and pick a book that takes you back to the time when you LOVED reading. Hope that helps!!

I just finished Interesting Facts About Space by Emily Austen and I loved it but it might not hit the same if you aren’t mentally ill. Easy read though

When i was too ill to read for years it was graphic novels that finally got me back into reading. They’re easier on a frazzled brain and they tend to be pretty exciting. I read all the obvious ones – Watchmen, Maus, Fun Home, Persepolis, Batman: Zero Year & Year One, Paper Girls, ugh there’s another one – the title’s a woman’s name – but i can’t for the life of me remember what it is, plus loads of others. Also i will always recommend Ursula Le Guin, Octavia Butler and Sebastian Barry. Also Divorcing Jack by Colin Bateman (which is part of a series if you enjoy it).
