It’s so rare that I finish a book. Like really rare. I’ve tried maybe 40 books. I’ve finished 3. The writing was perfect. Kept me entertained. Couldn’t wait to see what happens next.
I feel as if every book I read is a “mystery book.” Every book I look at is people are killed and Detective or the ex detective is going to find out who it is! WoOooOoOo.
The ones I enjoyed were Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep. A fictional book about Hank Aaron and his bodyguard. LOVED that book. Couldn’t put it down…..and Bull Mountain. That book was amazing to me!!
But,I get books. I look at them…I’m like this looks so good. And I get so bored with them quickly. Doesn’t interest me.
How can I avoid that?

Maybe try some short stories or novellas?
Is it possible that you simply don’t like reading as much as you think you do?
Maybe switch genres?
I so feel you. I’ve started and DNF’d like 4 books this week because I am just not feeling them lol.
I don’t have such a chronic problem, as I finish most the books I start but some have been a struggle.
Sometimes when I’m in a rut, I like to read a young adult fiction novels as they are so entertaining, simple to read, and usually pretty short. It might seem silly but worth a shot!
Look for books that the authors of the books you enjoyed recommend
I’ve had decent luck telling ChatGPT what books I like and getting very specific about what I like about them, then asking for recommendations that meet those same criteria.
It is a special feeling when a book really captures your attention.
If youre in a rut there is only one answer.
