I have to have surgery to have my wisdom teeth removed next week, and I’m looking for some books to read to help keep me calm. I have bad anxiety normally, and read books to escape somewhere else to keep my mind from spinning out of control. Anything medical makes my anxiety sky rocket unfortunately, so I am looking for recommendations. I posted in another reddit group and got some good options. I typically read romantasy, or fantasy with darker themes. Some conflict or violence is expected but I cannot be emotionally wrecked. So I’m kinda out of my depth in looking for suggestions. I just got back into reading a couple years ago. I really would like some adventure, I enjoy reading anything about elves, the fae, and enjoy magical elements. Would like to read something with a happy ending. Some series/books I enjoyed were The Throne of Glass, Eragon, and Legends and Lattes. I expect I won’t be able to keep up with complex plots or multiple perspectives. I really enjoyed The Priory of the Orange Tree, but it switched perspectives a lot, and I think the headspace I’m going to be in I won’t be able to keep up with. I also enjoyed The Zodiac Academy, it was super easy to read, but definitely wasn’t a literary masterpiece, but for this I’m looking for something more lowkey. I hope this makes sense, for what I’m trying to find. Mostly a book to take me somewhere else, I might not have the best focus so nothing super complex, and something easy to read so very open to YA. Thank you in advance!

Going Bovine by Libba Bray!
It’s so underrated, but it’s one of my absolute favorites.. and lucky for you the character list includes a garden gnome and a fairy, along with a few more unique characters. It’s bizarre & absurd adventure but also extremely heartwarming. Must read!
