Hi, I (25M) am thinking about my getting my friend (26F) a book as they're going through a rough time in their life right now but I'm not sure what books would be good for her. I know she's interested in mysteries and romance and hasn't purchased any new books in a little while so I'm hoping someone here may have a suggestion that's perfect for her. Thanks in advance!

Last week I read a debut novel called ‘Greater Sins’ by Gabrielle Griffiths, which I really enjoyed. There are mystery elements (though, you shouldn’t get too bogged down – that’s a pun for anyone who’s read the book! – by the main ‘mystery’ of the bog woman), and romance.
It’s sort of gothic historical fiction about two people – Lizzie and Johnny – who live in rural Aberdeenshire (Scotland) in 1915. A dead body is found in a local bog and those two characters end up connecting in an attempt to figure out what happened. The writing is really lyrical, and I loved the flashback chapters (the real mystery lies in trying to figure out what happened to the characters a decade ago, and how everything links together).
I don’t know if it’s exactly what you’re looking for, but I’d definitely recommend it.
