I love historical mysteries and would love some more recs!
I'm looking for cozier mysteries. Nothing gory or too descriptive because I listen with my kids in the room.
Anything before WWII. Anywhere in the world as a setting, but the book does need to be in English.
Optional: I would like for the police to not be idiots. The most recent series I read had a bunch of rural cops who were too dumb to spot an obvious murder just so the amateur sleuth had a reason to get involved. Bonus points if the main character is actually a cop!
For reference, my favorites include: All Agatha Christie, the Charlotte and Thomas Pitt series, the Scottish Ladies Detective Agency, and the Lady Dunbridge Mysteries.
I go through 3-5 books a week, so any and all historical mysteries that you can recommend are greatly appreciated!!!
