I haven’t read for fun in years. The last book I read was World War Z (pretty good), The Wheel of Time (unfortunately didn’t finish the first book not sure why it didn’t click with me?), and Paladins Grace (still reading). Also read the first Witcher novel awhile back.

Looking for books common enough I can find them at a library or bookstore. I find a big hurdle for me for reading is I get a book recommendation and I can’t seem to find the book anywhere. Or I need to surmount a bunch of hurdles to get to it. So if it’s not common enough to be on Libby, I probably won’t read it.

I’m 28. Interested in adventure, fantasy, and idk I’m not really sure? I read one book in the Aloicious (sp) Archer series and I liked that but that’s not adventure nor fantasy.

    1. ooh ok. gonna just rapid fire a bunch off the top of my head (i haven’t read them all but a few are on my tbr in the same category): The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch (one of my all time favs), The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne, A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan, Uprooted by Naomi Novik.

honorable mentions: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, Piranesi by Susanna Clarke, The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon (mwah, chef’s kiss).

    2. You might enjoy Bernard Cornwell’s The Last Kingdom series. The books are generally not too long (300-400 pages) and are fast-paced with a lot of well-written battles and duels. They’re medieval historical fiction, which I’d consider fantasy adjacent. The first book is the titular The Last Kingdom.
