Chuck Palahniuk : first approach

Hello,

Lately I was asking for weird books, and a commenter suggested some Palahniuk. I always told myself I should read at least one of his books, BUT the one recommended for the "weird" thread was Damned. And I am not sure it is a wise choice to begin with this one….(As much as I could read the summary, the whole 13 years old + drug + death + rivers of wasted sperm in hell + dirty diapers maybe is not the kind of thing I should read first to discover Palahniuk….or maybe you'll tell me I should !).

So, what book would you choose by this author for a first approach ? That means maybe something not too weird so I can finish the book without telling myself "never again" while I would have like the author if I had begun with something else.

Please, not Fight Club either, that's not my thing at all :/
