Hey all, for those who don’t know, Blue Prince is a recent puzzle game in which you explore a manor and slowly piece together mysteries and puzzles left by your great uncle to claim your inheritance. There’s a lot more to it than that, but I’ve been reflecting on the game’s plot a lot and how I can’t really relate it to any mystery books I’ve read. I love the idea of a protagonist following clues and gradually unravelling a wider satisfying – and deliberately constructed – mystery in a context that isn’t just a detective/crime story.
I would love any recommendations for stories with that kind of energy, which I’ve struggled a bit to explain concisely but is hopefully clear enough to anyone who’s played/seen the game. Thanks!

The first thing that came to mind was The Inheritance Games trilogy. I love Blue Prince, so I know the vibe you are talking about. I’m not much of a reader, but I did start book one and it was pretty good. I just can’t finish anything. Hoping others come with some different suggestions.
House of Leaves might be a good fit.
Ooh Strange Pictures by Uketsu which came out just this year in English might be exactly what you’re looking for! It was such a fun read, and in a way ‘more’ than a regular novel/detective story, since the author uses pictures to tell the story which really draws you into the whole process of solving the mystery!
