There is near weekly discussion or this or other subs, sometiems hardly related to writing, where people will mention writers who were once described with words like "beloved", "iconic", "influential", "best-selling", but who eventually turned out to be to be horrible people, or allegedly, horrible people. But majority of the writers named are men, with occassional J. K. Rowling or Marion Zimmer Bradley thrown in. I've been curious if there aren't more such cases – women who earned reputation of some of most succesful and influential in literary world, only to then it come to light they did or are doign terrible things.
