I'm not sure if this request makes sense but here we go. I recently read The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley and loved it.
It reminded me of The Psychology of Time Travel by Kate Mascarenhas. Readable and smart but character focused and plays with interesting ideas.
So I like how these books use kind of light sci fi and time travel concepts to explore things that are more grounded. Can anyone recommend any books like these, that do that kind of thing?

Sea of Tranquility
This Is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone
Slaughterhouse Five by Vonnegut
*Cloud Atlas* by David Mitchell. It’s not really time travel, exactly… But the novel plays with time, the consequences of a person’s actions up and down the timeline, and it is generally quite wonderful.
It’s not really what you’ve asked for but there’s a french writer called Guillaume Musso. He has a book about time travel that’s so beautifully written it’s captivating the book’s name is “Will you be there”
Hope you have a good read.
The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells by Andrew Sean Greer explores societal norms through the FMC’s time travel
Rant by Chuck Palahniuk
Also When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead. It’s YA but her writing and story crafting are perfection.
Connie Willis’ Domesday Book is a detailed account of the plague; her Black Out/All Clear is a detailed account of life in London during the Blitz. Time travel is the frame for these stories, but I’m a scholar of war (though not a historian), and I’m learning a ton about WWII while I read the latter.
