I'm looking for a non-fiction book on the dustbowl. I'm most interested in the drought and governance aspect of it: why the land was settled (think it was unusually wet when they tried?), the federal government role in settling the land and the response after the drought, why the drought was so bad — things like that. I'm interested in the human element too, but that's secondary to the climate/weather and governance aspects
