The Harry Potter series comes to mind. While I was reading that, a piece of my brain was in Hogwarts, even while working and doing other things.
I hope this makes sense, but basically I'm looking for a book or books where the atmosphere just sucks you in.
Series I haven't read: LOTR and Game
Of Thrones. For those who have read these, would you recommend?

Game of Thrones is absolutely incredible and JK Rowling is a dumb bitch. I hope that helps.
I just started the Wheel of Time series and I get lost in that fairly easily. They’re also long books, and a long series 😊
LOTR and Game of Thrones definitely *could* be great books to get lost in, but keep in mind that they require a lot more of your attention than something like Harry Potter. If you read a decent amount of fantasy, or read a lot in general, you’ll probably love them. On the other hand, if you’re looking for something more at the level of Harry Potter, you could check out Naomi Novik’s **Scholomance** series, Garth Nix’s **Old Kingdom** series, or maybe Becky Chambers’ **Wayfarers** series (if you’re okay with sci-fi). Alternatively, **The Hobbit** will give you a taste of LOTR’s vibes at a more accessible level. Enjoy!
11/22/63 and the Dark Tower series.
Tolkien’s LOTR universe is amazing and the characters and civilisations’ motivations and flaws actually feel real. READ IT (read the Silmarillion too)
Pillars of the Earth
I just found Jeff Vandermeer the other day, starting with his “Ambergris,” trilogy. It’s a little weird, but it’s gorgeous. Like; the writing is gorgeous and rich, and so beautiful.
The one I have is all three books in one, and clocks out at 853 pages. That might be worth checking out, too.
Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman
Always Coming Home by Ursula K Le Guin and The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco were both books I ripped through pretty quickly despite being long-ish. Both very much in the “couldn’t put it down” category.
I recently got sucked into the invisible library series by Genevieve Cogman. The Graceling series by Kristin Cashore was another good one.
