Our local book group wants to read a fictional novel that portrays a genuine intergenerational friendship (not cringey, but caring). We appreciate books that speak to the human condition and include multiple themes. A coming-of-age story that's not YA/NA would work. We've narrowed it down to still too many!
- The Universe Versus Alex Woods by Gavin Extence
- The Vanished Birds by Simon Jimenez
- Augustown by Kei Miller
- The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers
- Miss Benson's Beetle by Rachel Joyce
- The Emperor of Gladness by Ocean Vuong
- A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles
Which of these books do you recommend? What book not listed do you recommend? Cheers and ta!

The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yōko Ogawa. Follow a housekeeper and her son bonding with a professor who only has 80 minutes of short term memory. Heartwarming vibes. There may be some math included.
May I go off the board and suggest an intergenerational romance? I run an indie imprint and our debut novel, A Million Tomorrows by Kris Middaugh, is a love story between an older woman and younger man with a scifi twist and is a roller coaster of emotions.
