Rec for someone who likes Jennifer Egan

I got my boyfriend into Jennifer Egan. I had only read A Visit from the Goon Squad, which of course I liked a lot, but he loved it so much he read The Candy House, and he's bummed it's coming to an end

Any book recs for a fan of those two Egan books? Ideally something contemporary-ish and character-driven but that also has that Balzacian kind of narrative structure with a bunch of different stories braided together
