I’ve read a lot of books which has raised my standards for them. If I don’t particularly like the writing or find the story uninteresting, I’ll drop it as early as 10% into the book.
I’m on the search for a beautiful, well written book and a little less importantly, an intriguing story, preferably something written in the last decade.
I thought the writing/prose for Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin (mostly the first parts, it got marginally worse later on) was my ideal quality of writing and to a lesser extent, I thought the writing The Wedding People by Alison Espach was decent as well.
I enjoy deepish themes, humor, and for the story factor, here are some books that I thought had an interesting plot. Eragon, The Book Thief, Dungeon Crawler Carl series, The Way of Kings, The Bad Guys Series (Eric Ugland), and Six of Crows. HM The Last of Us show only cause I’m watching season 2 now
Book recs don’t necessarily have to be fantasy or a specific genre (though I prefer fiction). I realize this is a funky request so TIA.
TLDR:
Good writing, good story, fiction, written in the last decade.
