    1. Okay, I will do my best here. I get my books from the library, so I can’t recall if these all have maps.

The Will of the Many by James Islington – for a compelling fantasy book about an intricate political system and a magical school. I can’t recall if there was a map (the internet implies there is), but it’s a fantastic fantasy book and the plot is not romance focused. Second book comes out later this year.

The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett- internet also implies map. This was such a fun read. Not a romance. A fantasy murder mystery. Intricate plot. Kind of like Sherlock Holmes with giant sea monsters. Very fun and different. The second book came out this year.

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson- really cool intricate story, the magical world is all built on books and libraries. There is a romance plot but it’s YA and not smutty. Really unique book, good for a romantasy lover who isn’t into spice. I don’t recall a map (you can find one online though), but this is a fun and different fantasy read.

Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett- okay, so the book itself is intricately related to faerie lands and mapping their doors. There are three books in this series. It has a romance plot but is not smutty. I don’t think there is a map, but part of the series is about creating maps. It’s written like a journal.

All four of these books are pretty different, so hopefully you can find something you like from these recommendations!

You might have read these already, but mentioning them just in case: –

      Lord of the Rings

      The Witcher Saga

A Song of Ice and Fire

If you like more YA fantasy, then Fablehaven is a good series, still holds up to this day.

The Inheritance Cycle is also decent, though it’s not that good.
