Im looking for a fictionalised account of the war of the roses but grounded in history. any recomendations? any good historical fiction in this era is welcome
The Cousins War series, by Phillipa Gregory (*The Lady of the Rivers*, *The White Queen*, *The Red Queen*, *The Kingmaker’s Daughter*, and *The White Princess*)
Wildcard suggestions:
*The Daughter of Time*, by Josephine Tey – strictly speaking this one’s set in the 1930s, and involves a bored police inspector stuck in hospital and looking for an old case to investigate, but it’s very much about one of the central mysteries of the Wars of the Roses.
*Plan for the Worst*, by Jodi Taylor – this one’s book 11 in her Chronicles of St Mary’s series, about time-travelling historians. It’s hilarious in places, gut-wrenching in others, and is not really a stand-alone.
