I remember about a year or more ago I looked through old Reddit posts, specifically book recommendations for preteens, and I found this one book.
My sister read one page and enjoyed the book and lost it. Somehow I have completely forgotten the title.
So from what she remembers, it may have been a fantasy book with a humorous tone, where the young protagonist was hired in a bakery and wondered why there was a dead body on the floor, and felt bad that the body had mismatched socks.
Thanks!! I hope you have a nice day.

A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking (?) I might be wrong but I think I’ve heard of it before
