I recently read two non fiction books I really enjoyed, Inside Qatar and India: A Portrait. These books don't focus so much on history as telling stories of people's day to day lives. In the book about India, the author spent time with an election official in, I think, Uttar Pradesh, who explained the challenges. In the book about Qatar, they described the system that was set up for developing soccer talent.
These books are less dry than something called, say, India: An Introduction, because those books seek to give the history and culture in a short space. How regular people work and play are only mentioned in as much as they say cricket is popular in India.
Do you have any suggestions for books that introduce me to regular people? Any country is fine.
Thanks for your help comrades!
