This is a weird request. English is my second language, and I would say I'm pretty good, but I've learned it by reading and watching movies, so my pronunciation could use some work. To work on this by myself, I decided to read out loud to practice.

I thought maybe someone might have a recommendation, some things I'm looking for are:

Something not extremely long, for my throats sake (250 pages or less maybe?)

Something with a fairly normal vocabulary, maybe written with vocabulary you'd use in casual conversation (optional, hard words could be fun to learn)

Maybe something that seems fun? Like an audiobook you've heard that was very dinamic, or a book where it was written in a way that you could hear the narrator's voice in your head.

I thank ahead of time anyone who might be able to help me.

    1. Start easy, maybe with young adult literature but also that you find engaging. Some suggestions:

      His Dark Materials (fantasy)

      Animal Farm (satire)

      Submarine (coming of age)

      Little Women (American classic)

      Station eleven (dystopian)

      Mortal engines (steam punk)

The boy in the striped pyjamas (historical fiction)

The curious incident of the dog in the nighttime (diary, also if you can get it try the play script as it’s designed to be read aloud, you could even do different voices to make it fun if you like)

Not sure how it would be for English as a second language, but The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster is a lot of fun to read out loud. There’s a lot of word play.
