Unfortunately I don't know how to have fun. Currently I'm in ED recovery so my brains totally fried, this means I can't read because everything I read is very heavy and requires good health. I read a lot of classic hard SF, philosophy, classics, modern classics, poetry, plays, and essays but my doctor has kinda ordered me to read lighter books and find pleasure in reading. I'm guilty of not caring about a book when there's not a trillion layers (I studied English literature…) and deep themes/characters and has no prestige… Pretentious reader of the century!
As for "fun" books I haven't read much, I loved Adams and Lem, I also didn't mind The Rivers of London (had to stop due to the poor writing of women) and Neverwhere. I've tried to read high fantasy but it burns my brain, I want recommendations with quirky, well written characters, a universe that is humourous at times, that can be SF or fantasy. I'm guilty of not letting myself like a book if it's not super deep and something I could study, I need to get out this mindset for my mental and physical health. I have read some Terry Pratchett but I don't really like it… Sorry!!!
Thank you for your time and respect.
