My favorite detective series ever is the Ash Henderson novels by Stuart MacBride. I believe the first one is called “Birthdays for the Dead”. Happy reading!
Everyone in my Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson is a well done detective story with multiple murders! I would say it’s generally a bit more lighthearted but there are some dark sections and implications
The “Prey” series by John Sandford is very good. Lucas Davenport is the primary character.
Raven Black by Ann Cleeves
The Daroga (or the Persian) in Gaston Leroux’s *The Phantom of the Opera* is one of the most subtle and atmospheric detective characters created, with an unspeakably brilliant and decayed counterpart in the shade himself. the best detective in all of fiction.
*Murders in the Rue Morgue* by Poe is comparably night-dark, greasy candlelit fiction with an antagonist who is as terrifyingly brilliant in his own way.
Lindsey Davis’s Marcus Didius Falco series is like a sun-drenched afternoon with a wine and a toga while eating some olives and titillating over the latest temple gossip and drama with your fair lover.
“Whisper Man & others by Alex North! Nobody does serial killers better!
His & Hers by Alice Feeney
