As the title suggest I am looking for lgbtq, Southern Gothic, gothic, folk horror, Appalachian horror could be Celtic could be Welsh could be English anywhere.
with supernatural elements, really good atmospheric writing, strong characters.
Themes of trauma, grief, found family,
I like body horror, botanical horror, atmospheric horror.
It can have a lighter tone there can be levity, or it can be filled with dread.
I want to fall in love with characters.
I love books that just jump right in.
Witchy things, well portrayed death witch things, anything with Faye that covers what I've talked about, angels, demons, the devil, religious backgrounds cult backgrounds anything like that. As long as it fits the atmospheric Southern Gothic vibe. I can also handle internalize issues of homophobia (like when a character hasn't admitted to themselves that they're gay)
What I don't want: zombies. Romance books, books that have sex scenes for the sake of them. But if it's characters your rooting for that's okay

I’ve only read one of her shorter books, but I know T. Kingfisher has multiple gothic horror novels like The Twisted Ones and A House With Good Bones set in the Carolinas.

It hits your marks, but in a way probably opposite of what you’re looking for.
ETA: Nevermind, you mentioned it can be lighter in tone, which this definitely is but it is by no means horror.
