Hi everyone, I am not necessarily looking for books about grief but those are welcome too. My dad passed away seven days ago after being diagnosed with dementia about four years ago. His health obviously declined quite quickly and I feel sort of numb. I would love to read something that will help break up the shock and help me connect to my feelings if that makes sense. Would like to cry even just a little because it almost feels disrespectful not to. My dad was only 68 and he gave us so much. Anyone got ideas?

*The Midnight Library* by Matt Haig
**A Monster Calls** is a YA fiction book dealing with parental illness. I read it with my daughter when my own dad was dying of dementia and it really let loose a lot of feelings. I’m so sorry for your loss.
This may sound odd but I read Shark Heart by Emily Habeck after my dad died. It was by accident that I read it then. I was just looking for an easy read to distract me but it hit right. The very slim story line is that that the main character’s husband is slowly turning into a shark and losing more of himself as it goes along. It was relatable and made me think a lot more than I thought a book with such a premise would.
