I enjoy historical fiction and stories that are very narrative driven. I am not to picky on the time period but I do prefer something set in the 19-20th century. On of my favorite is “All The Lights We Cannot See.” I am looking for a book like that. I also like a good mystery novel set during a historical period (not Agatha Christie… I’ve read most of her books and love them). Any and all recommendations are welcomed, feel free to ask for more details if needed.

I’m sure you’ve heard this rec before, but I just finished The Poisonwood Bible and I will not shut up about it, one of my favorite reads in a long time.

    3. Try the Barker and Lewellyn Victorian mystery series by Will Thomas. Best read in order. The first title is Some Danger Involved. An homage of sorts to Sherlock Holmes. Cyrus Barker is a “enquiry agent” with a murky past – the son of Scottish missionaries, orphaned and grew up on the streets in China. He arrives in London – wealthy, scarred, tattooed – and sets up shop. His assistant is a small Welshman with a tragic backstory. There are 18? 19? titles in the series so far.
