I used to be a voracious reader, but life got busy. I want to get back in the habit of reading every day, but I could use some help finding new books I will like. I've always liked poetic prose about sad people. My favorite authors include Gabriel García Márquez, Toni Morrison, and Rohinton Mistry. Thanks!

Gabriel García Márquez and Toni Morrison are two of my boss’s favorite authors. The other author she puts up on that pedestal is Virginia Woolf. If you’re comfortable with Márquez and Morrison, Woolf’s work should be within your comfort zone as well.
I just finished reading *To the Lighthouse* and I think it fits this request nicely. It’s not the saddest book by any stretch, but it certainly has a poetic and dreary/somber tone for a healthy portion of the book.
