disturbing horror books with a relatively small page count

gotta do some summer work and i have to read a choice book under the horror genre. i love horror in general but have never actually read anything in the category. id want to read something disturbing, unsettling, maybe dealing with mental illness or something. give me something that’ll creep me out ^{^} thanks!!!
