So to start here's the Authors with the vibe I'm looking for; Martha Wells, John Scalzi, Andy Weir and Dennis E. Taylor.
I'm looking for something that's roughly in the near future or with moderately relatable tech; something like the Expanse series, the first 2/3 of Seveneves or the Lady Astronaut series.
Things I haven't liked; anything beyond the first Children of Time book, anything by KSR.
Anything with trying to survive in difficult circumstances without too much violence would be absolutely perfect.
Any suggestions appreciated and thanks in advance

Space Opera by Catherynne Valente
Hell, and the Past is Red by Catherynne Valente. Probably other stuff of theirs I haven’t read also
I quite like the authors you’ve listed and also enjoy Blake Crouch’s books. (Might be slightly violent, but there’s a sort of light/entertaining plot that I don’t find too heavy.) If you haven’t read it yet, Ready Player One by Earnest Cline. I also liked The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson.
Also if you haven’t read them yet, the expanse books are entertaining. (I listened to the audiobooks, though.) I enjoyed James S.A. Corey’s new book as well, The Mercy of Gods.
