I've tried many horror novels, lots of Stephen King & some indie, but none of them do it for me. (The Shining did get me a little. I dont remember why tho.). I just finished Harvest Home after a comment I saw recommending horror books. The way they described it I thought I would be ruined forever. I dont want to offend anyone, this is just my useless opinion but, what a waste of time.
So maybe not necessarily "horror" genre but any kind of book that disturbed you & stayed with you forever/awhile. For me, that was Lolita. I couldn't even finish it / a single chapter. I felt sick with myself. I know lots love it & I think nothing of it. But that's kind of the vibe i'm going for. I want something so disturbing I have to force myself to finish it. Any genre. But please nothing like what i've just previously stated. I've read Trafficked by Sophie Hayes & The Little Prisoner by Jane Elliot. No more of that. Something beyond that.
I just want to understand how a book can be scary.
