When I was younger, I used to lose a lot of sleep over series like Fablehaven, Hunger Games, the Nicholas Flamel series, and any Rick Riordan book. However, as a 20-year-old, aside from the occasional poetry/philosophy/self-help book, I don't read anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions for more mature series/books of that similar vibe to get back into reading? Also, I'm a gay man, so any books with lgbt characters are a bonus.

    1. I always recommend the Six of Crows Duology and the Shades of Magic series for anyone looking to get back into reading or fantasy! They’ll suck you right in with adventure, cool magic, and super interesting character dynamics. Both have lgbtq characters as well.

Hi fellow rainbow person, A marvellous light is a m/m fantasy you might like. The Greenhollow duology by Emily Tesh too, as well as The faerie hound of York (if I’m remembering the title correctly). Don’t let the forest in, and The monster of Elendhaven as well. Oh and The gilded wolves.
