I hope this is an okay sub for this, and that what I'm asking makes sense.
If you don't hate the British Museum, you should probably scroll away now lol
I have a huge interest in archaeology and ancient history, but I can't stand reading about it from sources that basically glaze colonizers, looters, and thieves. No matter what different wordings or search terms I use, nearly every result for "British archaeology in India" entirely glosses over the ethics of it, and blindly praises the archaeologists. And rarely any of them involve a single Indian writer. Beyond just annoying the hell out of me, I struggle to consider sources like that 100% reliable.
I would be more than happy to read books about Indian history by Indian writers, too, though archaeology specifically is really what I'm looking for.
Hopefully, I've kind of made it clear what I'm looking for.
Ik this isn't the sub for it, but if you do happen to know documentaries or podcasts by Indian people on the subject, I'd take those too!
