My mom is not a big reader but recently asked me to get her a book from the Library…

She is older and I think would like more of a gentle read. So nothing long since she’s not somebody that I would consider an avid reader. She also may be a little bit old-fashioned so please no books filled with profanity or graphic sex or even sex at all really.

I’m thinking she may possibly like something by Rosamunde Pilcher or the Miss Read series. She read some Janette Oke

I would love to find her something she’d really enjoy

    Thank you!

James Herriot’s novels like *All Creatures Great and Small* or maybe the “Mitford Years” series by Jan Karon.

    2. Drop a Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum in with your next choice. Tiny amount of smoulder (fade to black) but some hilarious older characters.

Jan Karon’s Mitford series is lovely. There’s a lot of books – like 14 maybe – but none of them individually are super long and the whole series feels like a warm hug. The main character is an Episcopalian priest so there is obviously a religious element but it’s not preachy, it feels very human and down to earth

    4. Sarah Addison Allen. There’s a touch of fantasy in her books. When I worked in a library as a volunteer it was known among staff and volunteers alike that a rec of one of her books was a sure thing, especially for an older reader.

      Start with *Garden Spells.*

    5. See if they have any of Grace Livingston Hill’s old novels, very gentle and old-fashioned Christian romances.
