This is a good intentioned but suspicious book recommendation.
I've read some memoirs and biographies of respectable German servicemen (i.e. Erwin Rommel – someone who didn't support Nazism but rather fought for his homeland), and their perspective is fascinating, but it still feels "American" in that their opinion of Nazis and the high command is similar to the perspective taught in US high schools. To better understand the Axis Powers, I want to read the memoirs of a Nazi high command, or someone in the secret police who was intimately involved with the crimes being committed and supported them.
