I'm about halfway through the novel and I know things were changed a bit for the Broadway show, but I'm confused about his description in the novel.
He is described constantly as having a "deaths-head." But I can't for the life of me figure out if this is describing a mask he is wearing or if he isn't covering his disfigurement at all and that's just a description of his actual deformity, and the text is really not doing a great job of clarifying it.
Please help. TIA!

It’s been a hot minute since I read it, but I believe in the original; that is what he looks like. The mask became more popular in later derivatives.
It’s been awhile since I’ve read the novel, but I’m sure he’s wearing a mask as Christine pulls it off after he abducts her..if I’m remembering correctly?
