i’m a musicial and with all the awful things going on in the world i have felt like doing music is worthless. but i’m also italian, and i remember about how “ciao bella” -written by partisans- became an anthem of resistance not just in fascist italy but in other more recent cases of oppression all over the world;
so i’m looking for books that talk about music’s importance in the history of humanity, how it served as symbols of hope and love, especially when it comes to marginalised groups such as people of colour, queer/trans folks, women etc.
any recommendation will be greatly appreciated 🫶
