I’ve been reading a lot this past year. Octavia Butler, Nnedi Okorafor, Maurice Carlos Ruffin, Stephen King, a little bit of Joan Didion and quite a few one offs that I don’t remember the authors (one was called “My Murder” I think – about a woman who was murdered and then cloned ? It was pretty good)
Anyway, I’ve been spending a lot of time reading because I have moved to a new town and spend a lot more time alone. I don’t mind it, but I miss a sense of companionship, especially to other women. l would love some suggestions of books with strong female relationships (platonic or queer or otherwise). I like the genres touched on by the above mentioned authors but am open minded. I do lean towards fiction, usually with a touch of fantasy or sci-fi or horror.
I’d love some suggestions! Nothing too soul crushing, please – I’m in a bit of a fragile emotional phase at the moment (thanks!)

Remnant Population by Elizabeth Moon
It’s about an older woman stepping out of society and discovering a world no one imagined. I don’t want to spoil it, but it was very much a “coming of age” story for an older woman and also solid scifi with aliens.
Fannie Flagg’s books, especially “Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe.” I love all the women in her books though.
