I just finished Leviathan Wakes and I had high expectations and a lot of excitement given the recs in this sub and it being a sci-fi space soap opera with politcal drama, which I adore. However, it never hooked me at all. I just felt like the science foundation it's been toted to have wasn't really present, the character decisions questionable (kinda plot armory too), the juvenile relationships, and the short form writing just didn't create enough of a visual for me.
My question is this: the ending (the premise of the mars/earth/belter conflict) does intrigue me as a set up going forward, but is it worth is to keep reading/investing in the next books? Do they get significantly better?
