Hey everyone I’m a 21m and I want to start reading some books to spend less time on my phone and do something actually useful, but my entourage is kinda boring because they only suggest self help books like 48 laws of power and stuff.
So if you could recommend three books from different genres what would you give to a beginner reader.
(I have no specific genre that I like or dislike btw)

The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin. It’s short, and melancholy, and makes you want to get up and be a better person.
**Mystic River** (Lehane)
**Isaac’s Storm** (Larson)
**Red Dragon** (Harris)
Vicious – V.E. Schwab (Fantasy/Sci-Fi)
Animal Farm – George Orwell (Dystopian/Classic)
Bat Eater – Kylie Lee Baker (Mystery/Horror)
All systems red, first book of the Murderbot diaries, for scifi
1984 by Orwell for a classic book
The vegetarian by Han Kang for psychological fiction
They’re all five star reads and quite short and easy to read
