I’ve noticed that a lot of the books I really love fall into this category of like… strange/experimental, often magical realism, but also either heartwarming or gut wrenching or both. I want more of that.
Some examples:
– About Uncle by Rebecca Gisler
– The Book of X by Sarah Rode Etter
– Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami (a lot of his stuff scratches this itch)
– Piranesi by Susanna Clarke (this one is not quite as weird, but made me feel so many Feelings)
– Nothing to See Jere by Kevin Wilson
– McGlue by Ottessa Moshfegh (this one isn’t weird so much as it was atypical in its narration, but I’m adding it anyway)

Try “Borne” by Jeff Vandermeer
Totally get that vibe! Try The Chronology of Water weird, raw, and beautiful. Also Little, Big is magical and haunting in a soft way. Both hit deep.
