Growing up, I LOVED reading exciting fantasy/sci-fi YA novels (I.e., Percy Jackson, divergent, Harry Potter, etc) but required literary fiction reading in high school (I’m sorry, Catcher in the Rye, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, Things Fall Apart, ugh!) made me feel like reading was a chore. Now I’m 24 and rebuilding my relationship with books by allowing myself to have fun and be transported to other worlds.
I feel like I’ve missed out on the last decade of reading and I have so much energy to get back in.
No specific genre in mind, feeling very open to anything
Books I’ve enjoyed this year include the Hunger Games series, The Hate U Give, Frankenstein, and the Game of Thrones series
